Yamaha LS9 to ProTools
« on: January 11, 2012, 05:02:25 PM »

 :o

I have just purchased a new Yamaha LS9-16. I have ProTools LE with a Digi-003 card. Is there any way to hook these together? I cannot get the sound to read in my ProTools program. Do I need a new card? I have been working for days and at a loss. Any help would be appreciated qickly as classes start on Tuesday! Thanks!

With the LS9-16 you'll need to pick up a Mini-YGDAI card to serve as your I/O. I believe they make an ADAT one, although that means you'll only be able to use 8 channels with your 003. The easiest thing seems to be to buy something like the Lynx AES16e and a AES/EBU YGDAI card and that'll take 16 channels into and out of Pro Tools. Remember though, the LS9 really isn't meant to be a recording console. There will be some drawbacks.
