UREI 1176 Revision B Schematics
« on: January 03, 2011, 11:56:00 AM »

Hello,
Does anyone have an 1176 Rev B Schematic?  I have found Rev A and all the other versions but I haven't found a Rev B schematic.  I am going to be doing a Re-Cap and want to make sure I am looking at the right thing.  Also does anyone advise replacing the Fets?  Is there any reason to?  Do they drift or go out of spec or is it an either good or bad situation?

Thanks and any help is appreciated.

The complete schematics are available on the web, do a search.  I have a rev B 1176, and I wouldn't advise changing anything except the caps, but first do some measurements to see if that's really necessary.

Chuck,
Thank you.  I appreciate the advice.  I found those schematics but to my eyes it is the schematic for a Revision A.  I will look at them again.

Thanks again,

You can go to the Universal Audio website and get the 1176 Manual.
Their version of the manual has all of Bill's handwritten notes, plus schematics for every version made. Interesting reading in there.

Enjoy.

I was never able to find a good clear Rev B schematic on the web, or anywhere else for that matter. The one on the JBL site is really hard to read.

Last year after a LOT of calling around it turned out that good old Sunset Sound in Hollywood had a clear original in their files, and they were kind enough to let me borrow and scan it. The original is quite large (about 11 x 25) so I took it to a blueprint place and had it scanned on an oversize machine.

I don't usually give out rare documentation but this one is important so what the heck, why not pay it forward. I do ask that no one posts this to any other web site. Anyway, here it is, and I hope it's helpful!
