Yes I tried to buy a cherrywood box from Vintagemicrophone.com as I said in the first post, but they refunded my money and said they no longer have them-
They may have a few left they are selling on Ebay for 251's, etc but I think that's it for these-

That's bad, yet good to know.

My last purchase was for a short body U47, early this year, around April.

Cheers and good luck hunting... maybe you can learn to make them, or find someone who is a cabinet maker who will do a few for you.

Making an accurate copy would be an easy job for any decent woodworker. It's still a lot of hassle to go through for a something you could buy off the shelf for not much.

For smaller boxes I've bought unfinished ones at Michael's, finished them, put it foam with cutouts and a piece of foam in the lid, then covered the foam with satin. A little hot glue holds the foam in place and you can buy latches online. It's time-consuming but not difficult and far cheaper than custom made boxes.
