There's already a thread about this, I think.  See if search turns it up for you.

They say the heart of Rock & Roll is still beating, which is amazing if you consider all the blow it's done over the years.

"The Internet enables pompous blowhards to interact with other pompous blowhards in a big circle jerk of pomposity." - Bill Maher

"The negative aspects of this business, not only will continue to prevail, but will continue to accelerate in madness. Conditions aren't going to get better, because the economics of rock and roll are getting closer and closer to the economics of Big Business America." - Bill Graham

The guy has a freakishly bad customer service reputation...plus other horror stories.

I've a couple of friends who I showed this RV14M to, but they could never ever get a response from him despite numerous emails, messages left on his answerphone. I too have found him to be virtually uncontactable.

I once wrote him about a pair of Neumann KM56s he had for sale.  I received a very nice and prompt reply.

Yeah, I feel bad bashing the guy.  His site is great.  But his communication for me has been nil.

JJ, I was unable to find a thread on this after running a search on Saturn Sound and RV14M.

So, any thoughts? Question still stands.

Thanks for the link. Quite a contentious thread there. Glad I was out of the kitchen for that battle.

On another note...

I have a U47 with Andreas Grosser's solid state VF14 direct plug in replacement.

I like it.

Does that make me evil? No.

Does it make me an ignoramus? No.

I also own one with the VF14...

Both mics do not sound the same, but the A.G. does deliver the correct performance to be close enough to my ears.

Something to consider, I guess : one day there will not be almost any correctly functioning VF14 tubes.

Cheers

Is Grosser's tube-replacement plug and play? If so, I will have him send me one, and try it out.

Yes it is.

My technician calibrated the power supply for a VF14 tube, and recommended I try this one, since getting a good VF14 nowadays is really really hard.

I definitely want to read on your impressions on this replacement as well.
