In California the Prius is warranteed for 10 years or 150k miles, and there are ones on the road that have lasted well over 200k miles on the original battery. Battery replacement is about $3000.

ah ok . . I was told from a friend who has a Hydrid of some sort / but a different brand . . that he had to pay something like $5000 to replace his batteries around 50,000 miles. But he is prone to hyperbole.

3000 dollars after 150k miles is 2 cents a mile, not so bad.
Figure in that you get more than 150k miles, and also hopefully prices will drop as the technology becomes more entrenched, and it gets even better.
