I would have to go back and read some of my AES publications to intelligently argue my point. Publications, that along with my personal listening experience made me a believer in dual-concentric designs. But, at the end of the day, one may also argue that there is no perfect speaker system, or microphone, or anything else. They're just tools. I hope to be able to hear the Tridents some day.

Yes, some of this speaker design stuff is esoteric, and some of it is art (with maybe a pinch of Black Magic), sprinkled heavily with "marketing BS." I know; I've been designing speakers for over 50 years now. You'd think I'd know better by now, but I think I'm getting closer, thanks, in part, to Thiele and Small. Getting George Augspurger's endorsement meant a great deal to me.
Dual-concentric designs have a lot going for them, but there are a few drawbacks to them, especially for near field speakers.
