Well i've had a bit to say in earlier posts about the 747's comp settings but have to say that i have never regretted buying it. It takes some getting used to and has a few "sweet spot" settings. I used it a few weeks ago while tracking vox and was very happy with how it worked. I was reminded how its a good idea to not look at the VU while dialing in some settings for dynamic control of the vocal.

I found the EQ to be oddly "glassy" sounding on top and too bloomy and flabby on the bottom and kinda useless and edgy in the middle.

That exactly how I would describe the "Avalon-sound"... on some occasions it works fine though...

If we talk about mix compression, there´s a new compressor out there, actually for a couple of years now... the Vertigo. Pretty hard to beat but probably more for mastering purpose..

Yeah, but except for that...
