I know I'm splitting hairs here but......

For quick field recordings (2 Channel), which would you chose and why:

Presonus Audiobox
M Audio Fast Track Pro
Edirol UA 25EX

Or is there one I missed in this price range (approx.)

It has to be USB, and Bus Powered.

Yea, probably.... though you should go with "whatever works"

If you want to step up the quality a bit, without mortgaging your house, the Sound Devices USB-PRE is a really great unit that has high quality analog/digital electronics suited for location/field recording. I believe it fits your requirement, though I am unsure of your budget.

There's one thing to know about the Fast Track Pro.  It's advertised as being able to do 96kHz sample rate.  It does, but there's a catch:  at the 2X sample rates you can use either inputs or outputs but not both at the same time.  So overdubbing at those higher sample rates is impossible.  

I found this out the hard way.  Rolling Eyes
