Localization of sound
« on: February 19, 2009, 06:18:14 AM »

Is this correct, any other thoughts on the subject of from to back placements of sounds? Best regards /Toby

Localization of sound

Vision
-A seen location easily dominates over a heard location, when the two are in conflict.

Time difference (Delay)
-Close sounds are heard first.

Ambience Difference
-A wet sound is percieved distant.

Volume difference (Loudness)
-A loud sound is perceived closer.

Frequency difference (Frequency content)
-A close sound has more H.F content, distant sound have lost some frequencies.

So
A close sound equals: Loud, Dry sound with Heights and Lows.
A distant sound equals: A low volume, Wet sound with less Heights and Bottom.

Binaural localisation?

It depends on how big your nose is...
