Localization of sound
Vision
-A seen location easily dominates over a heard location, when the two are in conflict.
Time difference (Delay)
-Close sounds are heard first.
Ambience Difference
-A wet sound is percieved distant.
Volume difference (Loudness)
-A loud sound is perceived closer.
Frequency difference (Frequency content)
-A close sound has more H.F content, distant sound have lost some frequencies.
So
A close sound equals: Loud, Dry sound with Heights and Lows.
A distant sound equals: A low volume, Wet sound with less Heights and Bottom.
