AEA R84 Ribbon Mic Clips
« on: May 28, 2004, 02:07:41 AM »

(posted on several forums...hey it took time!)

Well the R84's are here, and I thought I'd check one out and make some clips.

This is my FROG studio (finished room over garage), just me playing and singing by myself.

Chain is:

AEA R84 Ribbon Mic
Safe Sound Audio P1 preamp (limiter never engaged, no comp etc.)
Swissonic AD96 converter @ 44.1/16
RME 9652 Hammerfall
Nuendo 1.6 PC
Converter to 192 mp3 with dbPowerAmp

Vocals: Sorry...I'm not a real singer! But, nobody else was around. I just wanted to go from soft to loud with it cause I like the sound you get when pushing it with vocals. Old school.

Drums: Arbiter maples with Slingerland Sound King snare, mic is about 6 feet from the front of the kit

Electric Guitar: Ibanez Jet King to old VH series Ampeg (I'm not a guitarist!)

Acoustic Guitar: Yamaha FG413 (I'm not a guitarist!)

Select arrow on right of clips "download" and "open" if you don't want to save.

I'm more of a pianist / drummer guy and dabble in singing and guitar, so take those clips for what they are.

On the drum clip and vocal clip I used an Auralex Max Wall type of setup behind the mic to control room reflections making it to the mic.
