We should all hope to make such a mark and have a long full life as he did.  

I'm happy that his suffering is over and he can rest.

I bought that huge "Bitches Brew" box set a few years ago. I'm a HUGE fan of the original release and thought "cool, now I get to hear MORE"....

NOPE.

What I hear on that box set is exactly the obit's point about Teo's work. It's a JAM. A really great jam with really great musicians and it IS fun to hear some of my jazz hero's wandering around in there...find a motif, expand and explore...move on to the next cue from Miles. BUT the edited release is a masterpiece that truly does focus all of that brilliant improvisation into a compositional glory. Miles and his fans were so lucky to have you Teo,
