Replacing Axial Caps with Radial Caps
« on: August 07, 2007, 05:33:04 PM »

I want to recap my DBX 160VU and from the research I've done it seems that the Panasonic FM's, Nichicon HE's, and Rubycon Z series are all recommended. However I only see those types in radial configurations and the DBX has all axials in there. Can the radial fit comfortably or shoudl I stick with a different type of axial cap? It seems that BC components makes the values needed in an axial type.

I usually use the BC Components caps where axials are needed. You should have no trouble getting radials to fit for most values in a 160. Either way will work.

The radials will work fine. Large one's wiggle a bit so a drop of hot glue secures them. You can't get very low impedance axials so I use the radials.
