Assistant Professor of Audio Aesthetics & Technology

Full-time Replacement Position
Posted 09-09-2011 Starting Date:   Academic Semester beginning January 2012, if possible, or August 2012

Qualifications:  Webster University invites applicants for a status/tenure track faculty position in Audio Production at the rank of Assistant Professor.  Desired candidate will possess broad academic and professional expertise in audio production with a minimum of five years professional experience.  Master’s degree and three years college teaching in Audio Production field required; terminal degree (MFA or PhD in related field) and five years teaching experience preferred.  The candidate must be able to teach a variety of undergraduate courses in audio production including introductory and advanced courses containing both theoretical and applied knowledge.  The successful candidate will present excellent teaching evaluations, evidence of leadership in university, school and department initiatives, and appropriate scholarship and production. Experience with large format consoles, DigiDesign products, PC and MAC based Digital Audio Workstations is necessary.
 
Duties:  The Webster teaching load is six courses per academic year at the St. Louis campus with occasional teaching assignments at the European campuses.  Additional responsibilities include student advising, coordination of adjunct faculty and curriculum development.

As the AA&T Department is currently developing expansion of the Audio Production program at Webster’s five international campuses, the incoming assistant professor should be enthusiastic in traveling to help implement these programs. The Audio Aesthetics & Technology Department, in addition to meeting the educational needs of its 150 majors in St. Louis, also provides curricular support to other programs and departments throughout Webster University (video, music, film.)

School:   The School of Communication at Webster University has 1,350 undergraduate and graduate students majoring in 16 areas of media theory and production including Audio Production.  The School’s media majors are offered at five international locations in addition to the St. Louis home campus: Thailand, Leiden, London, Geneva and Vienna
