Software Scopes
« on: February 08, 2006, 12:36:47 PM »

Hey all,

I just saw this over in Albini's forum. Someone recommended this peice of software http://www.audiotester.de/. I was wondering what your thoughts are on software scopes and tone generators. I am sure it all has to do with your soundcard being of quality I would assume. But I was wondering if getting something like that and maybe some M-audio usb interface would be something that would be usefull with a laptop? Any suggestions or comments on these?

I've used them for years as a secondary reference in the shop. That means I calibrated them to the HP and Tek stuff. Now I'm setting up the laptop with a 96k usb interface (to see above 20 khz!) and making it portable. I'm using a similar software, SpectraLab by Sound Technology. But the one you mentioned is free, use that!
Just calibrate it to a known reference.
