drum tuning
« on: November 28, 2005, 07:18:03 AM »

hi all,
with big interest I read the snare topic.
are there any similar opinions/reasons/observations on other parts of a drumset (bd, bd beater, crashes, toms)
(For the reason of live-usability and reconstruction under critical circumstances:)I do mostly use a akg mic setup (toms: c418, oh: c414, cr: C580, hh & ride: C430, bd: D112) mixed with shure (sntop: b57 snmid: b58 snbot: sm57; bd: b91) plus a yamaha subkick
(Amek bcII;symetrix & valley people outboard; motu 24I/O; nuendo & waves / uad plugins)

I personally like the evans heads, tuned hi (chambers like), cutting thru everything.
snhead = 5th
snreso = oct lower to head
bdhead = around 160HZ
toms = the lowest tom is equal to the snare
